Maintenance of nickel cadmium batteries
1. In daily work, one should be familiar with the type of battery they use, its basic characteristics, and performance. This is of great significance for guiding us in the correct use and maintenance, and is also extremely important for extending the service life of batteries.
2. When charging, it is best to control the room temperature between 10 ℃ and 30 ℃, and take cooling measures if it is higher than 30 ℃ to avoid deformation due to internal overheating of the battery; When the room temperature is below 5 degrees Celsius, it can cause insufficient charging and affect the battery’s lifespan.
3. After a period of use, due to varying levels of discharge and aging, there may be insufficient charging and performance degradation. Generally, nickel cadmium batteries can be overcharged after about 10 charging and discharging cycles. The method is to extend the charging time by about twice the normal charging time.
4. The charging and discharging of batteries should be strictly operated according to the requirements and specifications, and long-term overcharging, overcharging, or frequent undercharging should be avoided. Incomplete discharge, long-term low current deep discharge or short circuit during battery use are important factors that cause battery capacity reduction and shortened lifespan. In the long run, illegal use and operation will not only affect usage, but also inevitably affect the capacity and lifespan of the battery.
5. When nickel cadmium batteries are not used for a long time, they do not need to be charged and stored. However, they must be discharged to the termination voltage (the camera battery warning light flashes) before being packaged and stored in the original packaging paper box or with cloth or paper, and then stored in a dry and ventilated place.
